Thursdays, March 8,15,22, 2018, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
This class is for painters with experience who want to paint less realistically. Techniques for “loosening up” images and various materials which will aid in this process will be discussed and demonstrated. Students may choose to paint in an abstract or non-representational (no images)manner which will be based on personal preference. Emphasis will be on honest, authentic choices of colors, marks, textures, shapes and compositions. Instruction will be individual and based on each student’s needs and goals. This is an opportunity to paint in class with instruction, work at home if you wish and return for continued instruction/critique.
A list of suggested supplies will be emailed 3 weeks prior to the class or it can be requested at any time. Students will bring their own painting supplies.
Pat Cain is a painter originally from the Midwest with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Studio Art. She taught art for thirty years. Her work is shown in galleries in Scottsdale and northern Michigan and is represented in many public and private collections.
