Class/Workshop Title:Abstracting the Landscape

Date/Time: Thurs & Fri, Dec 5 & 6, 2019 10:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m.
Learn to modernize the landscape with Acrylics by exaggerating shape and color. Students will work from 8 x10 photos provided by Hartley to complete one or more paintings. Learn how to make a good composition, mix pure clean pretty colors, and modernize the landscape. Students will experiment with lots of guidance and individual attention for all levels of skill. The goal is to learn to put more joy in your painting and to fall in love with acrylics.
Hartley has a BFA degree in Painting and Drawing from UGA in the 1960’s. She had her own art school in Atlanta for many years, teaching all ages to draw and paint. (oils, acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, oil pastels, etc) . She was a member of The Atlanta Portrait Society. Born in California, raised in Kentucky and Atlanta, lived near kids and grandkids in Georgia and Charleston, moved to Phoenix 22 years ago, and now lives near Sedona. She now enjoys painting acrylic landscapes from her travels in Arizona, all of over the West, and in Ireland, Provence, Iceland, and more. Her paintings can be seen at Bonner David Gallery in Scottsdale where she has a one woman show every year.
