This is a punchcard class where you can learn, do your own thing and grow. Each week a lesson will be provided to expand your skills. You will have the opportunity to create what you want. All styles will be nurtured. Students will learn design and composition, drawing and proportion, value, color, texture, edges, brushwork/mark-making and experimenting with tools. From realism to abstraction, I can support you and help you progress where you want to go. Included are short weekly lessons, lots of feedback, an open studio feel with engaged instruction. You will develop what and how you really want to express your style. Classes meet every Monday afternoon for approximately 20weeks.
Throughout my life my identity as an artist has been such a pleasure. I feel so lucky. I started painting as a teenager and decided it would be wonderful to blend my career path with creative sharing. I’ve been teaching art to adults and kids all of my life and expanding, with great determination and growth, my own art intensively since 2011.
I strongly believe that art talent is inherent to being human and I see this over and over again. Helping others find their own voice and greatest strengths in art production, whether its traditional art, expressionism or abstraction is really fun for me. I’m encouraging to all, whether beginner or advanced. I have a really good sense of where a person’s art voice really sings, believing that each of us has the gift of art. I have both an MA in Art Educ. and an MA in Art Therapy from The George Washington University.
