All skill levels are welcome!
During this one-day, fun, and relaxed workshop, desert contemporary artist Althea Sassman will demonstrate the process of creating her unique, painterly form of torn-paper collage. Instruction begins with paint-on-paper techniques, and continues with paper-tearing tips, color/value play, and application techniques. Students will create their own artwork using the subject of their choice by integrating their own variety of hand painted, handmade, decorative and recycled papers.
Althea is an Arizona State University graduate and previous graphic designer and art director for advertising agencies in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Currently she enjoys creating her emotional connections to the desert environment and wildlife through her torn-paper collages. Her work can be seen at Thunderbird Art Festivals and Hidden In The Hills studio tours, or online at ArtAlthea.com
