About Instructor:

Originally trained in Drawing, Painting & Printmaking at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, earning a BFA Degree. At Northern Illinois University Mantor received her MA & MFA Degrees in Drawing & Printmaking. Justine was an Associate Professor at Loyola University in Chicago for 22 years specializing in Color Theory and design. After her move to Arizona Justine was Artist in Residence at the Phoenix Center for three years where she discovered Ampersand’s hardwood boards. Teaching an experimental class she developed inks, Pearlescent inks and etching on scratchboard. Using ink for painting Mantor concocts layers of iridescent inks bubbling up through transparent colored inks to produce a series of shimmering landscapes and cactus paintings; while additionally etching the under layer of white on the scratchboard to create rhythmic, linear effects.
