Class: Watercolor Skies & Atmospheric Landscapes
Instructor: Yvonne Joyner
Date(s): Saturday, January 15, 2022
Time: 9 am to 4 pm
Don’t forget… The first part of watercolor is WATER!
It drips, it flows, it splashes, and it has an element of surprise & excitement!
We will use these unique characteristics of watercolor to work magic for us as we create skies of various types… fair weather, stormy, and big billowy white monsoon clouds. You will learn to make your brushes “dance” in order to capture the fleeting moments of weather. The sky will be the star, but below the sky we will indicate simple atmospheric landscapes.
“Elsewhere the sky is the roof of the world, but here the earth is the floor of the sky.” Willa Cather.
Yvonne has a degree in Fine Arts from Indiana University, where she was trained in oil painting, ceramics, and photography. After graduating, she worked as a professional potter and an art teacher before discovering a passion for watercolor over 25 years ago.
Yvonne’s paintings have been shown in galleries in Scottsdale, AZ, Durango, CO and Sedona, AZ, where she has also been featured in one-woman shows and exhibitions.
She is a long-time resident of Scottsdale, Arizona where she has been teaching watercolor classes & workshops for over 10 years in various locations. She is a Silver Signature member of the Arizona Watercolor Association.
“When I teach, it is my desire to encourage the students to trust their creative souls and to help them enjoy the freshness & surprises of watercolor.”
