An Evening of Enlightenment About AI Art

Presented by Terravita resident Bob LaPolice

 

 

AI art is simply, artwork made with the assistance of generative AI-technology that finds patterns in big datasets and uses that information to create new content.

Terravita resident, Bob LaPolice is our local AI expert. He will explain and give a video presentation on what AI is all about, with an emphasis on AI Art. Here is his bio:

Managed Research & Development programs for the Department of Defense covering Survivability, Mobility and Autonomy. BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Started programming computers in High School back in 1974. Wrote a neural network "artificial intelligence" program back in 2001 for financial analysis. Had a Studio Art Minor in college. Became a passionate amateur photographer starting in 1983. Has won over a hundred awards and had work published in magazines such as Popular Photography and Shutterbug. Also works in hand-built ceramics, and has won awards for that as well. Did photographic darkroom work, developing negatives and slides, producing black & white, color and Cibachrome prints, and still does matting and framing. Moved into digital photography and its tools early on to help produce the creative images he envisioned because, to quote Ansel Adams, "You don't take a photograph, you make it." Since jumping into the burgeoning field of AI image generation in March of 2022, has created over 60,000 images. The field is growing extremely fast, and he would like to invite you along for the ride.
