Class Description:

This class is for painters with some experience who wish to paint less realistically. Techniques for abstracting images and various materials which will aid in this process will be discussed and demonstrated. Students may choose to paint in an abstract style or non-objectively (no images). Instruction will be individual and based on each student's needs and goals.

 

Instructor Biography:

Pat Cain is a painter originally from the Midwest with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Studio Art. She taught art for 30 years in Michigan public schools. Her work is shown in galleries in Scottsdale and northern Michigan and is included in many public and private collections.

Cancellation:

Full refund if cancelling 2 weeks before class, half refund before class, no refund once class begins.

 

Supply List:

Paints you prefer to work with, brushes, palette, water container, smock, gloves, etc. Floor and table easels will be available.
Something to paint on...canvas, paper, board, etc. in whatever sizes you like. Extras in case you need them.
If you are new to me, a picture of an abstract or non-objective painting you like for discussion with me or pictures of your work.
Photos you might normally use as subject matter if you work from photos.

OPTIONAL MATERIALS

Collage materials...paper, fabric, string, ribbon, pictures, etc. Appropriate adhesive, such as acrylic medium.
Light molding paste.
Brayer, squeegee, sponge roller.
House painting brush, 2” or 3” wide.
Pastels, watercolor or oil crayons compatible with your paint.
Charcoal
Sketch book, pencil.
Anything else you like to use when painting.
