Introducing Painting With Oil/Cold Wax

Class: Introducing Painting With Oil/Cold Wax

Instructor: Kathie Henderson

Medium: oil/cold wax

Date(s): Thursday, January 11, January 18, and January 25, 2024

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Cost: $180 includes supplies

Class Description:

Using cold wax with oil paint allows the paint to be applied (and removed) by all sorts of tools including squeegees, rollers, and cheesecloth. By ignoring the brush you are free to express yourself without getting bogged down with details. Your painting can vary from abstract to interpretive. It's fun, surprising, and easy to do. No previous experience with oil painting required.

Instructor Biography:

I was a commercial artist and graphic designer for 25 years specializing in printed publications for industry and commerce both in the States and New Zealand. I also ran a sheep farm and commercial flower production in New Zealand for 40 years. I taught various design classes for the local community college while there. After retiring I returned to the US and turned to fine art, exploring all the mediums. A class in hot wax painting led me to the cold wax painting, and now I love both and teach both. I still do sketching as well just to keep up with my former career training.
