Ikebana

 

 

Class: Ikebana

Time: 9am - 12pm

Cost: $160 for the two day workshop, including supplies

 

Class Description:

Ikebana is a traditional Japanese floral art. In the first part of the workshop, you will learn the traditional forms of ikebana, kakeiho. In the second part, you will make your own artistic creation, express yourself using botanical materials. In each class, I will first do a short introduction with demonstrations. Then, you will create your own ikebana. After everyone finishes, I will conduct a critic assessment.

 

Instructor Biography:

I have been studying Sogetsu Ikebana since 2003. I'm a member of Sogetsu Teacher's Association from Japan. I hold the teacher's title of First Grade Jonin Somu.

In the past years, I demonstrated or exhibited ikebana at Phoenix Art Museum, Scottsdale Center for the Arts, Tucson Museum of Art, Ikebana International Colorado Springs, Ikebana International Sun City, Desert Botanic Garden, Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, Japanese Matsuri Festival, Yume Japanese Gardens of Tucson, and Maricopa Country Libraries.

 

Cancellation:

Full refund if cancelling 1 week before class, half refund before class, no refund once class begins.

 

Supply List:

All supplies included in this class -- all floral materials and two ceramic ikebana containers.

Minimum Class Size: 5

Maximum Class Size: 15
