Live model figure drawing
Nov 22 Reception
WELCOME TO FIGURE DRAWING
In December TAL held an informal special session preceding the figure drawing class to help students understand what to expect. The three instructors leading the session — Cheri Saffro, Judy Rubin and Deb Hanson — shared examples of finished drawings and techniques that have worked or not.
"I think there was a very positive reaction to the session," Judy Rubin said.
Deb Hanson added, "The session was very well attended. We've found that people can be hesitant or a bit intimidated by the idea of sketching a live model, so we added this informal session to help participants feel ready to try something new."
EXHIBIT OPENING RECEPTION
Dwell in Possibility
It was a dark and stormy night when the undaunted Terravita community braved pouring rain to turn out in large numbers for the opening reception for the current exhibit, "Dwell in Possiblity".
The show's theme is inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem "I dwell in Possibility," which celebrates the creative spirit and encourages us to look beyond what is, and to dream what might be.
"The exhibition invites you to step into a world where imagination expands, boundaries soften and creativity becomes a place to live," Deb Hanson said.
"This collection embraces that spirit fully, celebrating art as a doorway to curiosity, transformation and infinite potential. Each piece invites you to pause, explore and experience the magic that opens when we allow ourselves to wonder.
"We were so pleased with the number of people who came out on a rainy night," Deb said. "It's incredible the talent we have here in Terravita. The artists really had fun talking about their art."
If you haven't yet seen the exhibit, be sure to stop by the Desert Pavilion to experience how TAL's wonderfully creative artists celebrate the possible. "Dwell in Possibility" is on through Feb. 17.
All Classes Are Held in the Desert Pavilion Art Room, 34109 N. 69th Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85266
